Progression
The Oaths
DevClub progression is earned through action, not time served. Each Oath represents a deeper commitment — to the craft, to others, and to yourself. You don't unlock levels. You earn them like tattoos.
First Ideal — The Foundation
“Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination.”
Every member speaks the First Ideal. It means you value the journey of building, learning, and growing over any destination — title, salary, or status. You're here because the work itself matters.
What you can do
- Full community access
- Participate in challenges
- Access the Wall and leaderboard
- Use your callsign across all DevClub platforms
Second Ideal — The Protector
“I will protect those who cannot protect themselves.”
You've proven yourself through action. Now you lift others. You mentor junior members, create projects that solve real problems, and bring new people through the door. Your code speaks louder than your words.
What you can do
- Mentor new members
- Create and lead projects
- Generate invite codes
- Propose challenges
Third Ideal — The Arbiter
“I will protect even those I hate, so long as it is right.”
The hardest oath. You do what's right even when it's uncomfortable. You moderate with fairness, set policy that serves everyone — even those you disagree with — and organize events that bring the community together.
What you can do
- Community moderation
- Policy and governance input
- Organize community events
- Mediate disputes with fairness
Fourth Ideal — The Steward
“I accept that there will be those I cannot protect.”
The quietest and heaviest oath. You accept that you can't save everyone, but you still show up. You carry the weight of the community — infrastructure, direction, the invisible work that keeps everything running. No glory. No credit. Service.
What you can do
- Community stewardship
- Infrastructure and direction
- Quiet servant leadership
- The weight and the honor
The Philosophy
Progression in DevClub isn't about points or badges. It's about becoming someone who can carry more weight.
Each Oath is harder than the last — not because the tasks are harder, but because the commitment is deeper. The First Ideal asks you to show up. The Fourth asks you to serve without recognition.
Not everyone will speak every Oath. That's by design. The journey is the point.
